A counterbalanced sit-down lift truck also goes by the name of a standard lift truck. It is the vehicle that most people envision in their mind when they imagine a lift truck or a forklift. This machinery come in any of the tire types such as solid or pneumatic options along with different fuel types including electric, diesel and gas models. It has a variety of attachment options, weight capacities and lift heights.
The workhorses within most warehouses are the smaller 3000 pound to 4000 pound trucks. If you are only able to have one truck and are running a smaller operation, this is an ideal choice because it is a really practical option. The standard forklift is a wide aisle truck which requires at least 11' aisles to turn in. The width of the aisle is determined by the turn radius, the size of the truck and the load size. Available attachments and options comprise fork shifts, side shifts, slip sheet attachments and hydraulic clamps.
Reach Truck
Reach trucks or straddle reach, double-deep reach and stand-up reach trucks are a particularly designed narrow aisle reach truck used for racked pallet storage. This particular unit measures 8' to 10'. The reach truck has telescoping forks and uses outriggers in front as well as a hydraulic scissors-type mechanism. The hydraulic scissors type of mechanism allows you to lift the load and retract it over the outriggers. This particular design allows the operator to turn in a narrower aisle by reducing the overall load length of the truck.
Double-deep reach trucks allow the operator to store pallets in a two-deep double-deep rack system. The outcome has provided a specially extended reach device. Reach trucks are made just for racking areas. They do not work well for loading trucks or for quickly transporting loads over distances. These reach trucks make particular easy work of some specific heavy-duty applications.
