A lift truck is an important piece of equipment within the material handling business. Also called a powered industrial truck, a forklift is used to carry and transport materials from one place to another. These kinds of trucks transformed the manufacturing and the warehousing industries. Now they are utilized for a huge variety of applications and are considered to be essential for material handling.

The forklift needs an operator who utilizes the control levers to transport loads and supplies around the worksite, normally a warehouse or factory. Businesses which own their own forklifts have to maintain the machines to make sure they have a long lifespan. Forklift parts, like any machine parts, are prone to wear and tear and would eventually become worn. In order to ensure the lift truck functions efficiently and safely, you would need to occasionally replace damaged or worn parts. Each lift truck part is made for a specific purpose. Below is a list of some forklift attachments and their purposes:

Forklift Fork Positioner: The forklift fork positioner is a hydraulic attachment which helps to position the forks. It can move the forks either at the same time or separately. Without the forklift fork positioner, the operator of the lift truck must adjust forklift forks by hand for various sizes of loads.

Side Shifter: The hydraulic side shift attachment enables the operator to laterally shift both the backrest and the forklift forks. This type of attachment makes it easier to position the load without having to change the position of the truck.

Pole Attachments: Pole attachments are long metal poles utilized specifically to lift carpet rolls. The poles work better for this purpose than forklift forks.

Telescopic Forklift Forks: Telescoping blades are hydraulic attachments which enable the operator to both load and unload from one side. The telescoping forks could handle two pallets of different sizes at the same time. This particular attachment is great for handling pallets in 'double deep racking'.
