The forklift is a material handling machine utilized to lift and transport loads from one location to another. Each forklift part has a particular function. Different components can be utilized to move the load vertically or horizontally.
Mast
The forklift mast refers to all the parts which lower and lift the load. There are various types of masts for lifting loads to different heights: duplex, triplex, quad and simplex.
Power Supply
There are four various ways you could power a forklift: electric, gas, propane and diesel. The battery is situated inside the cab underneath the seat. The propane tank is located on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on gas and diesel forklifts is beneath the back of the truck.
Cab
The forklift cab is located within the middle of the truck. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the informational gauges and controls. The gas pedal, steering wheel, brake, lifting controls and tilting controls are all situated inside the cab.
Frame
The truck frame carries all the biggest parts of the forklift, including the counterweights, that are situated at the back to stop the truck from tipping when loaded. The frame consists of the overhead guard which protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the axles, wheels and driveshaft.
