Different Kinds of Aerial Lift
Aerial lifts are a specialized type of heavy machinery which enables personnel to be lifted into the air. These machinery can be used to perform maintenance and repairs in areas which are high up in the air such as on roofs, near power lines and street-light fixtures. Like most tools, there are various models of aerial lifts which could be used to carry out various jobs. For the utmost safety, every type of different kind of equipment requires right training and specific qualifications prior to utilizing it.
Scissor Lifts
Genie lifts are another name for scissor lifts. These equipment are the most basic type of aerial lift available. These lifts are made of a platform which is raised up using pneumatic power and are mainly used indoors. Typically, scissor lifts are the safest type of lift models. When totally compressed, these scissor lifts could be driven similar to large carts. Generally, when the platform is extended, they are not able to be driven for safety reasons. Before anybody could use these tools, employees must be certified as operators.
Boom Lifts
The boom lift is a much more complex type of aerial lift machine compared to a scissor lift. The boom lift often has a much wider base to keep the lift anchored. It utilizes a jointed arm that has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box situated in the bucket that enables the operator to lower and lift the bucket. Since the arm of the boom is jointed, it can move from side to side also. The boom lift resembles a metal scorpion's tail. Usually, it is used in construction applications outdoors. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to run compared to scissor lifts, thus, operators should be licensed individually for these types of lifts.
