One of the biggest reasons is to prevent risk of lawsuits if somebody is hurt. Secondly, accidents cut down on working time. Thirdly, property and merchandise can be damaged during mishaps. Nearly all mishaps are attributed to employees who are not well trained. Employers are responsible for making sure that all workers who are utilizing the forklift are properly trained in risks and safety. Never let anybody on a forklift who isn't trained to operate the forklift. Your business must develop and post in a place that is visible all forklift safety procedures.
Workers should have a positive attitude when they go through training, rather than doing it just because they are required to. You as the employer should help employees know the importance of proper training. Let them understand that they can injure or kill not just themselves, but other people, if they make mistakes. It is up to you to ensure that all your staff go through training seriously.
