Forklift Tire Specs
Since the year 1917, essential tools used in industry and commercial businesses are forklifts. Throughout its history the forklift has evolved through different kinds, from a tractor with an attached platform to a specialized high-tech machine. Forklift tires have also evolved into specialized tires, with various kinds designed to meet specific applications.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
A cushion tire is constructed of rubber or solid polyurethane and is suitable for indoor applications on smooth surfaces. The cushion tire tread is bonded or pressed onto the tire's steel ring. Cushion tires are rated for different load capacities and for ease of steering. Cushion tires are normally used within warehouse settings.
Pneumatic Tires
Foam or air is used to fill pneumatic forklift tires. They are offered in two kinds: radial or bias. Depending upon the application, they come with different sidewall protection, tread depths and weight. Pneumatic forklift tires that are filled with foam are less prone to punctures and maintain constant pressures. Pneumatic tires are commonly utilized outdoors on uneven, rough surfaces.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
The comfortable ride which pneumatic tires provide along with the puncture resistance that solid tires provide are the combined features of Solid Pneumatic Hybrid Tires. They are an alternative to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Utilized on wheel loader forklifts are large rubber tires that can either be pneumatic, solid or foam. These tires are best for moving and loading bulk items onto trucks or into processing equipment. Big flotation pneumatic tires are suited for masted rough terrain forklifts normally used at lumberyards, construction sites and auto recyclers.
